gold membership?

I do wonder, do people actually for the gold membership ($20/month)? Is it worth it?
I was about delete this account but now that I moved the US, I wonder if it's more popular around here (than in Europe).

My account is extremely restricted (for not being a paying member); and so many incoming messages I cannot even read.
