Billy Joel's Piano man. Why? I have no idea? I made it out of bed and down the hall before my back chose to remind me that I'm not a spring chicken any more and I had to grab the wall for support less I fall flat on my face. I'm wondering if a new mattress will help with the early morning pain jabs? The daughter keeps telling me to buy one of those purple egg crate type of mattresses that are new on the market. I don't know? I hate shopping as a rule I only shop for things when I have too. As my current mattress isn't even five years old ( still really hasn't been broken in properly If you catch my drift ) It seems a waste to go out and buy a new one. Then there is the rationale that even if I did buy one of those purple mattresses there is the chance that it won't help my back problems at all. Adding insult to injury as I really would have wasted monies if I did buy one and it didn't help. Sleeping on my stomach seems to help. ( well a little ) But I'm a tosser...( yeah no, not the UK slang for wanker ) I mean I toss and turn in my sleep a lot, I didn't use too. As a younger man I slept soundly every night. Maybe it's my body's way of dealing with the pain while sleeping that has me moving about so much more? All I do know is I'm not getting enough sleep at night. Which would explain why I tend to sleep the weekends away while sitting on the couch when I get home after my Saturday and Sunday morning shifts. So, sing us a song your're the piano man, sing us a song tonight, we're all in the mood for a melody and you've got us feeling alright....Damn ear worm... Off to shower now...

One of the only things Hubby and I fight over is our bed! We went from waterbed (both loved it) to Pillow Top (I loved it, he hated it) to Sleep Number (he loved it, I hated it) to the Purple bed. We've had the Purple bed for several years. You have to love a very firm mattress in order to like it. We had to put a thick piece of foam on top of it, or neither one of us could sleep. Needless to say, we're still searching. Have a great day, and be nice to one another.

i had been sleeping on a hand me down futon and my back was just killing me. i had been holding out on buying new furniture because i'm in an apt and had hoped to buy a house this year... or next. and then things happened wit COVID and moving back in with the Ex. but last year i did the big splurge and i bought a TempurPedic bed. i got firm. to be honest it was TOO firm. so what i did was i went to WALLmart and i just got two of their eggcrates to pad my bed a little. perfect! i'm not familiar with the purple eggcrate. but i would suggest to give it a try. you might need two ? or a memory foam topper? you can usually get those at like SAMS.

I have a disc gone from my lower back so I can relate to your pain. Stretch your back before sliding into bed. Firm mattress. Needs to be rotated every so often. Pillow under or between your knees if you can. I tried a purple mattress in the store before we bought the current bed and I thought it was way too squishy. Floor models can get abused. We had a firm pillow top years ago and we both loved it. Have not been able to find a comparable mattress since then. It makes me so sad.
