Best Rest Areas?

I do travel for business and I occasionally need to stop at a rest area while driving. The question is what states have the best rest areas?

For me, The Ohio state turnpike system has some very nice ones. I think most have food, gas and clean bathrooms.

I have also recently stopped in WV and PA (both turnpikes). Still liked the Ohio turnpike locations better.

Interstate rest areas are just lacking.

Love the turnpike rest areas.

Technically, the turnpike rest areas are called service plazas. They are set up that way so you can use the facilities, get fuel for your vehicle, and/,or grab a meal all in one convenient location without having to pay the toll fees you accumulated at a regular exit. While service plazas are convenient, the prices are grossly inflated as a result. Personally. I would rather take the exit and go to the J or Love's and save my hard earned cash.

As a trucker, when I think about rest areas, my mind immediately jumps to those unsanitary potty pitstop pickle parks. 99% of the traditional rest areas I have been in are adequate at best. That being said, the 1% I have been in that have been super nice were all located in the great state of Texas. In particular, the rest area on the northbound side of I-35 at exit 281 between Jarrel and Round Rock is particularly nice and you can get a bit of a Texas history lesson there as well.

You are correct. I love the perspective. Most of my trips are in the Midwest. I do also make the drive to Greensboro on business and to Connecticut. Only 50,000 miles a year here. I would imagine your mileage is huge. Also I do like Love's, a few newer ones in Ohio.
