Just be yourself, start with small talk, and once you're feeling comfortable with people you meet and get to know, the rest will unfold naturally

Feel free to express yourself any way yourself, no one will judge you here - after all it’s Senior Sizzle. If they do not like what you have to say they will just move on. Lots of potential friends here and the best part is they are all adults.

Take blademaster70's advice and jump right in. Put yourself in situations where you will be in a social setting and forced to interact. We are the same age so I am just going to draw from my life; but, there are a number of professional society and non-profit mixers and events that I go to where I don't know anyone and frankly don't even want to go but have to go because of the potential value of the connections. Volunteer and non-profit work is a great way to get graduated exposure as well as continuous practice talking to people. Once you have people you trust, then you move to opening up. Like any skill, it takes practice. Don't get down on yourself if you falter; rather, if you falter, take it as a learning experience. Reflect on the feelings, emotions and circumstances that led to failure. You've made it through high school - the majority of the adult world has weaned out the miscreants at this point. You can do this.
