Half Full / Half Empty

Another tuff one friends.

So my heart goes out to all the hurricane victims lately. And I hope they all get back to normal soon.

Well that's the half empty part with me. I've known for many years that the Ilanders of Puerto Rico get Social Security even though they don't pay into it, I assume Guam and the Virgin Islands too. I'm afaid to look at their benifits as if it's the same as me this blog would be flaming!

But listening to one Elvira Salazar a Immigration Expert, for those of you that want to know where I get my information. Now she's the half full end of this, her purpose is to get as much help for as she can. But as she pleas for assistance she uses FACT, the fact of numbers.

She states that they had a 12% unemployment rate before the storm. A bigger point to me anyway is her FACT that 40% are already on some kind of welfare program. ALREADY? As there's going to be more now! Which I'm sure is true.

So a few things, I'd guess workers are in high demand, it saddens me as I'm sure Uncle Sam will be writing the checks. But better that then sitting on their asses waiting to be helped.

I'm also sad as I all but know we will end up spending move there then even Taxas which was so incrediblely struck. I understand it's a US territory and all that, and that they always vote to be a state which always fails. "When buy the cow if milk is free" And once again I fear we will show them they're right.

We will go in, rebuild and replace and on the way out forgive the billions they owe us. Let alone paying anything toward recent costs and efforts.

I just hope at the end employment approves and My God less put their hands out for free stuff/welfare. Or at bear minimum we put someone not corrupt in looking for fraud there, I'm pretty sure it's rampant there.

Having Satellite islands proved important in years past as early warning stations. They have a far less importance now and clearly a drain upon the country.

About 40 years ago I wrote a similar rant, sending it to several newspapers, tv newsrooms and as many politicians as I could think of. I had found out that many companies had moved large chunks of their manufacturing to Puerto Rico to take advantage of cheaper labor and to dodge most of the taxes and tariffs while still being able to claim "Made in America".
Your info is far more concerning. It's no wonder they keep voting down statehood.
