Wondering whyyyyyyyyyyy.......

Why is it that I have to pay to send messages, which is OKAY with me if it means that I have full access to all the site's features......

BUT....free members can no longer ANSWER emails that are sent to them? They have to PAY to read them, let alone respond? It never used to be that way.

I can understand enticing free members to pay the money to INITIATE email conversations, but the current system of making them pay to even READ an email is patently unfair to those of us who DO pay.

What is the benefit of being a paid member if I can only contact other paid members?

I think they'd get more business if they gave SOMETHING away to prospective buyers. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't have bots on here generating bullshit fake emails. I've been on here for years, but if I were brand new and had to pay to read an email from someone whose profile I couldn't see, and had to pay to respond, I think I would high tail it right outta here.

Your thoughts?

 Thanks for the comment. I never suggested they give the SAME access to free members that paying members get. But I havebeen on A F F a long time, and free members used to be able to at least respond to emails that were sent to them. Granted, it is fair to make them pay to initiate contact. That is fair. But there should be some benefit to even being a free member. It's the reason coupons work. To get you to try the product, and then if you like it hopefully you will pay full price. A F F is no stranger to this mechanism. I never pay full price. I always let my membership expire, and then I wait for them to offer me a better deal which they always do.

And I know what you mean about standard dating industry practice. Still, I maintain that the little "hooks" they gave you in the past (ie, responding to an email) no longer exist. I don't think I would pay anything if I had to pay to read an email someone sent to me.
