Do you ever watch a movie and think... OMG, many moments of the story could have been mine? I just Do you ever watch a movie and think... OMG, many moments of the story could have been yours? I just finished watching 'The Notebook' and I thought... Wow! the movie had so many scenes both in the present and in the past while the story flipped between younger and older versions of the lovers that were featured... and, their's was a love sparked with a passion that took one from the head to the toes.. of course it didn't hurt that the movie cast actors that made it easy to enjoy... The only thing I thought that the movie was missing was lyrical music... I'm enjoying some of you all's comments about what music means to me, maybe you are trying to figure out what music has meant to you and you've repressed those feelings, because you thought they were silly... 'it's just a silly little love song'... Now, however, you are thinking lyrics, here and there, of a particular song that sent you to a place where you remember a passionate event, or maybe you thought of a painful separation, or maybe you just now realized that that particular passage 'because you're all I want, you're all I need, you're everything' really applied to what you were thinking, but, you didn't want that memory... you are trying to block it out... you just ran away... Anyway... getting back to the movie... when Allie accuses Noah of never writing her when they were apart, he tells her he wrote her 365 letters, one every day for a year... To me, it hit like a ton of bricks... when I was in high school my parents decided we needed to move to Texas from the quiet confines of Missouri... and, the love of my life... I wrote her letters and she wrote me back... she took the bus to visit me one summer, I did the same the next summer... Unbeknownst to me, my mom called her parents and asked them to stop this craziness (I've since forgiven my mom for that), because we were too young and this young lady was consuming all of my thoughts, and I hers... she quit writing... she got married, that ended that... In the movie, her mother hid all of the letters... years later I re-discovered her on FB, but too much water had passed under that bridge... we texted back and forth and I even planned a trip to visit her... I made the trip, but, at the last minute she backed out... her life had become complicated, and to this day I've not seen her again... The first song that I thought should be in that movie is one by the Smithereens called 'A girl like you'... it should be at the beginning of the movie... before the love is rekindled... maybe even as the credits are rolling at the beginning to set the stage, because it is getting ready to heat up... the next song when they are out on the lake and they are feeding the birds, the song 'You're all I want' by Lifehouse should be played... because the surroundings are so beautiful... and, the couple is experiencing the foreplay of time lost, they are both re-meeting each other, even though Allie is trying to be coy because, afterall, she is engaged to be married... but, this love is to be realized, it is to be taken in tiny moments of love and passion... she, came to him, she came to his house, she wants to be loved and, he is not fighting it... he is going along... not judging, not criticizing, listening, but being firm in his answers because he knows her heart... she wants to be taken, but, he must be all she wants, all she needs her everything... and, I think that these songs would bring tears to the audience's eyes, at least, those that have felt that kind of love for someone else... There are brief moments when the older Allie who is suffering from Alzheimer's and/or Dementia can remember Noah who still loves her, and at those moments I think the song by the XX 'Together' should be playing in the background. When Allie finally decides to not marry the man she's engaged to (that is sad for him, but, he appears to have braced himself for hit...). I think the song 'I'm yours' by the Script could be playing... because Allie comes back to the house with her suitcases and as we find out they get married and have , grandchildren, and have lived a wonderful life... Those are excellent selections of songs for this particular movie!! It's one of few I still have....it has been few years since I've seen it last....I don't think I could watch it again by myself. Music has been a big part of my life, I have a song just about for each day, and each moment I lived, good or bad!   WITHOUT PASSION LIFE IS NOTHING

I thought about the songs, and since I'd posted others in previous blogs plus the October cd song list, I searched for the ones that could be the 'right' ones... What you are suggesting of putting music to scenes in a movie is that just called the movie soundtrack? Your knack of choosing appropriate songs is a gift.  I loved the movie The Notebook. My Dad looked a little bit like James Garner(as well as Robin Williams). My Dad had a strong jaw line and hair like James Garner but he had cauliflower ears and a broken nose from being a boxer when young so his nose and ears resembled Robin Williams. LOL I did not have a love interest like you as a youngster. I did have some infatuations in my life and some involved writing letters. That brings me back. I am reigniting my love of music from your blog posts.Thanks for stopping by to read and comment on my blog. Yes, that would be the movie soundtrack, however, most movies don't include all of the songs that are played due to contractual issues that may have come up as sometimes songs are replaced late in the process. I've had to be careful prior to purchasing a soundtrack because quite often a key song was not included. I'm so happy that one of my friends, Mary Jo Lisa (she is so young), introduced me to a phone app called 'Soundhound'. She even installed it on my phone and you know how I don't let just anyone touch my private parts. Anyway, I have the 'free' version and I use it all of the time. It allows me to be anywhere and if I hear a song, I click on the app and it gives me the name and artist!!! How cool is that? I'm happy to hear that you have been inspired to rekindle your interest in music. You are never too old to love great music. My daughter enjoys my music and it's weird because her friends can't believe it when she plays my CDs for them. They assume that a kid put them together... I don't consider myself a dj, but I have created my own mood setting music that seems to alter a person's preference or they will say to me... Can you please replay that song or what group was that... I looked for a new post yesterday as I wanted to feed my addiction to your prose, but came up empty. I'll look again later. Thanks again! Hi Joy. Thanks for the comments. That is a great movie and the ending was sad, but so were other parts. Two parts reinvented me. The first is when Allie meets Noah's current girlfriend and invites her into Noah's house. I've had a similar event happen to me with two women face to face multiple times. And, each time I was amazed that one of the women felt so inclined to open up to the future ex. Those times have seemed unreal, but they did happen, just like in the movie... Intimate moments had just occurred and still, a woman invited the future ex to come in and meet... I thought I was crazy. I thought that that could never happen in other people's real life. But, it does. I'm glad that you liked the song selection. Others were considered, but I don't want to be boring, so I chose these.... Thanks again! I've been a little different in that regard because while I've ended some relationships and others have ended me, there has been a rekindling of those relationships by either the offending or offended parties... Hi Joy... Always enjoy your comments... we realize who we are and, it's crazy, 'cause sometimes I've seen the train wreck coming from a distance... One time, in high school I dated a 10... I said to myself that this was going to be crazy, that this was going to leave a big void in my fragile heart... but, I didn't care... I was smitten, I wanted to kill cupid... because he got me good... and, it hurt so bad for so long... but, while it lasted I was in heaven... so, no pain, no gain...
