Meryl Streep, my hero

I have admired Meryl Streep for years based on her great acting skills. Now she impressed me by her clarity and humanity at the Golden Globes for her acceptance speech for lifetime achievement. If Tom Hanks won't run for President in 2020, perhaps we can convince Meryl Streep to do so...

Meryl Streep’s acceptance speech for Golden Globe’s lifetime achievement award included these words: There were “many, many powerful performances” by actors this year, “but there was one performance this year that stunned” her.
“It sank its hooks in my heart,” she said. “Not because it was good; there was nothing good about it. But it was effective, and it did its job. It made its intended audience laugh and show their teeth. It was that moment when the person asking to sit in the most respected seat in our country imitated a disabled reporter. Someone he outranked in privilege, power, and the capacity to fight back.”

[During a rally in November 2015, Trump launched into an impression of Serge Kovaleski, a New York Times reporter who suffers from arthrogryposis, a congenital joint condition, after Kovaleski pushed back against Trump’s use of a 2001 article he wrote as proof of the candidate’s false assertion that “thousands and thousands of people” in Muslim neighborhoods in New Jersey were cheering in the destruction of the World Trade Center on 9/11.]

“It kind of broke my heart when I saw it,” Streep continued. “And I still can’t get it out of my head, because it wasn’t in a movie. It was real life. And this instinct to humiliate, when it’s modeled by someone in the public platform, by someone powerful, it filters down into everybody’s life, because it kinda gives permission for other people to do the same thing. Disrespect invites disrespect, violence incites violence. And when the powerful use their position to bully others, we all lose.”

Donald Trump fired back at Meryl Streep:
“Meryl Streep, one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood, doesn’t know me but attacked last night at the Golden Globes,” “She is a Hillary flunky who lost big. For the 100th time, I never "mocked" a disabled reporter (would never do that) but simply showed him "groveling" when he totally changed a 16 year old story that he had written in order to make me look bad. Just more very dishonest media!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 9, 2017

Good to know Trump does not have time for National security briefings but can protect himself by Tweet attacks on Meryll Streep who criticized Trump’s bullying tactics. Lets keep saying mean things about Trump so he will be too busy responding to do any further damage to American values and policies.

If he was not named is said "attack"
And he definitely doesn't feel he did what he is accused of...
Why bother responding at all?
If she is an "over rated actress", why does she have 157 awards for acting?
And if she can be over rated in his eyes despite having all those awards,
What does that say about him as a businessman, when he has been through
6 bankruptcies?
Hm,
Kk

The observant make the best lovers,
I may not do right, but I do write,
I have bliss, joy, and happiness in my life,

Trump loves attention, but does not notice the negative attention he generates. Trump comes into office with the lowest approval rating of a President in 25 years. He lost the popular vote by close to 3 million votes. The GOP will destroy Obamacare and leave 20 million who have health insurance without coverage, and destroy the hospitals and Medicare system. Remember all the bad stuff in 2018 when the next Federal election occurs. Resist and stand up for American values.

I find it increasingly hard to believe that with all the issues surrounding him, he will be allowed to take office. his behavior at the press conference post the intelligence report was tantamount to the denial of a free press. why no other presses turned their moments over to cnn, gave me pause. the man is allowed to be a bully. we are allowing him to act this way.

You cannot conceive the many without the one.
