Terror in Paris

The 129 dead and 350 or so injured is tragic. Added to the Russian plane bombed and the recent events in Libya and other places, ISIS has shown its power to menace, maim and destroy.

Recall 9/11/2001? Al queda inflicted similar harm on the US. About 2,500 people killed and billions of dollars in damages. Did the US fall apart? No. We attacked Afghanistan and routed the Taliban who provided a base for Al queda. The drone war against Al queda continues and has destroyed their leaders.

A similar long campaign against ISIS is just starting and will require years of effort.

Just as Dec. 7, 1941 roused the sleeping tiger, the US, Europe and Russia will now target ISIS... The end result is not in doubt, even if the battle takes a decade or more.

Terrible. Stopping refugees will not stop terrorism.

Killing the bomber mastermind is a good start. More raids, more bombing and more losing for ISIS will cool the fires of crazies joining these disaffected rebels.

ISIS is sophisticated and has been underestimated. They need dedicated adversaries and years of government attention to defeat them.
