    Quoting easyrider4008:
I think that with the experience of age when I look at how many friends are divorced or parted that for most of us love never lasts a lifetime, there are a few I have known that go the distance but not many, from talking to people of my parents generation I get the impression that a lot stayed together only because of financial reasons and what was a real stigma at the time of divorce. Attitudes change but individuals still have a hard time knowing what they want, I think often this is because of the imbalance between love and lust and I think that the love part is the more important get that right and hey who knows how long it may last, it's a rocky road with all the outside influences that are the modern world. However I have found that I am still on friendly terms with several of my past loves and that now experience has taught me how to forgive and not ruminate but get out there and look again for the lid to my pot.
There's no doubt divorce was viewed very differently when our parents married. No matter what, couples stayed together 'through thick and thin'. I don't know if people today have less patience and individuals have become 'disposable'. We each have to find what works best us and sounds like you have. Thanks for sharing your perspective.
