Paying for sex A friend's blog got me thinking this morning about my earliest interests in the opposite sex. Joy's post reminded me of... I still remember a TV commercial from when I was a . The voiceover said something along the line of, " like your first love, you never forget your first Spitfire." The video alternated between shots of a Triumph Spitfire wheeling through the countryside with an attractive woman in the passenger seat and a WWII Spitfire on takeoff. At the time I watch it I would have taken either the car or the fighter. Now I'd take the woman first but would like all three. Which I posted on her blog. That recollection got me thinking about another early stimulus. As a young I started reading the newspaper advice column by Ann Landers (Dear Abby's sister). Often the column would inform me with tidbits about sex. One letter I distinctly remember was from a woman who early in her marriage would get money for sex from her husband. They were just starting out and money was tight. It became a game they played with she needed additional money to run the house. She pictured herself as Mata Hari or some other scarlet woman. Her complaint was that no that they were comfortably well off she didn't want to play that game any more and her husband did. Ann's response was that it was a habit for him that might be hard to break and what was the harm. Pretty progressive for the mid-1970's. That idea of paying (cash, I know all sex costs something, smirk) for sex hangs in my head. Does the idea of trading cash for services get your mind in gear? |

Never did the paying for sex,,,,although you always pay for sex in one way, shape or form. Nowadays,,,I'm praying for sex! And prayers ain't been answered,,,,,,guess I need to change my ways!

Prof10001 - Apparently that woman had no idea of her potential as a FinDom!! LOL Seriously, I do not think that household expenses should be handled that way but each household has to decide what works for them. Yep, that would be one heck of a habit to break. I see Ann Landers' response as the opposite of "progressive", for the 70s or any other decade. It goes along with the old stereotype that its natural for men to want sex, but not for women to want it just as much. I also think it is hilarious that she couched the man's desire as a "habit that might be hard to break". I have never heard sex referred to as a "habit" before. If there is a habit that the man is having a hard time breaking - you'd think it would be "taking care of his needs with his own hand". I don't recall whether the wife indicated a lessening of desire, she just felt the game was immature. Ohmygosh, I completely misread that she was referring only to the game. It seems odd that she/they or Ann didn't come up with a new scenario.
